Obituary

Richard Hartzen, 85, beloved husband of Anne nee Greenberg; loving father of Steven (Marla) and Gayle (Greg) Wiener; proud grandfather of Michelle (Andy), Mark, Jamie, and Jason; devoted son of the late Maurice and Julia; caring brother to Stuart. A gifted, dedicated insurance professional and lauded educator. He had a deep affinity for the Lakota Sioux people, and had the honor of participating in a Sundance. Lover of nature, fishing, and a good cigar. He cherished his friends and was always there for them. But most of all, he loved his family- they were his world. Graveside service, Tuesday, July 27, 2021, 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Park 1700 W. Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org) would be greatly appreciated. Richard and Anne have been our friends for years. Richard and I both taught insurance classes. One time we even had a chance to teach a class together. He always made it fun and interesting while teaching everything the students needed to know. It has been our honor to know Richard and Anne. He was one of a kind and is greatly missed.
